A titan among legal scholars, Professor Roscoe Pound once postulated, paradoxically, that in at least one context the administration of the law could best be served by ignoring it. Said Pound, “Jury lawlessness is the greatest corrective of law in its actual administration.” So-called jury nullification apparently serves a valuable role in the law, according to Pound.
