In my third year of law school, I externed at Region 20 of the NLRB in San Francisco for about six months. I was onboarded just as if I were an employee of the agency. Early into my tenure, I happened into attorney Robert Miller, then the Regional Director of Region 20. I remarked, “The papers I filled out asked if I had sugar in my urine. How should I know? I’ve never tasted it.” He was not amused.
